Monterrey, Nuevo León: A Sultan with a taste for golf

Nicknamed the Sultan of the North, this industrious northern city remains outside the typical international tourist route to this date, but it is clearly not lacking sights and attractions. Right outside the busy but well organized metropolitan zone, the third largest city in Mexico has wonderful natural surroundings, including lush forests, breathtaking mountain cliffs and noble deserts. Rock-climbing aficionados have long known the challenges and pleasures of the Huasteca and the beauty of the Cola de Caballo waterfall.

Predictably in such a well developed area, Monterrey is also home to sophisticated and renowned golf courses.

Other favourite destinations for daytrips and trekking adventures in the Monterrey area are the Grutas de García and the Parque Nacional Cumbres.
