Bahía de San Carlos (in English Saint-Charles Bay) is a quiet resort harbour in the municipality of Guaymas, Sonora. Its gorgeous beach front and limited size -only a few thousand people live there year-round- have made it a favourite for many snowbirds who found in it their own little corner of paradise under the Mexican sun.
Apart from its peculiar location between the desert and the sunny Pacific coast, San Carlos offers plenty of occasions for water sports, sport fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving.

A note to the RV adventurers, people driving into Bahía de San Carlos (but no further) now fall under the legislation of the Sonora Free Zone, meaning they are exempted from getting a special vehicle permit when crossing the border. This rule also applies to boats and trailers accompanying the visitors.
